Stories of Hope and Promise

Today’s story comes from Los Angeles and introduces us to Victoria. For nearly twenty years, Victoria has volunteered at Main Street Elementary School, helping distribute food to families in her community through the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s BackPack Program. She is not a celebrity, elected official, or corporate leader. She’s a parent who saw families around her struggling and decided to do something about it.

Did you know?

Most people spend down savings, cut household expenses, stretch food, rely on family and friends, postpone other needs, and make painful tradeoffs before seeking charitable food assistance.

Under his leadership, the Food Bank has expanded food distribution, strengthened nutrition initiatives, invested in public policy solutions, and built one of the largest hunger-relief networks in the United States.

How we use AI-enabled research and analysis.

Every Food Secure Nation Show gives our AI assistant a moment to tell us what research has to say about the topic we are covering. Our team applies AI-enabled research and analysis tools to gather publicly available data. Every output is reviewed by our hosts before it is used, findings are validated against primary sources, and we test results against lived experience. In this way, we can be a credible source of information for our listeners.
